PERSONAL: Ben and his wife have four kids who attend Valley Christian. They all are into sports (Horse jumping, hockey, & soccer) but also reading, especially Harry Potter. They all love their English Cream Golden Retriever, being outside, especially for hiking, and traveling to the Oregon Coast. Life is good!
FOSTER CARE + ADOPTION: As they raise their wonderful family, Ben, and Sarah have been blessed beyond belief. Even before they got married, they knew they wanted to foster and adopt children as part of the plan for growing their family. As an Arizona(Chandler) native, Sarah grew up around many families actively fostering children. She got a degree in Psychology and then a career as a Social Worker, further solidifying her heart toward vulnerable kids. Meanwhile, back in St. Louis, where Ben grew up, adoption was the water he swam in, with both his Dad having been adopted and his sister. He just assumed that’s what families do…needless to say, it was easy for them to pursue fostering and adoption. Annabelle, their first biological daughter, was born, and knowing they wanted to also grow their family through foster care/adoption, they began getting James. Lo and behold, a few weeks after getting him found out they were pregnant with Lily. Then their 4th and final child arrived a few years later!
They have learned a ton along the way and love chatting with couples interested in growing their families through foster care and adoption. It is a beautiful journey, and they believe deeply that children, however, they land in your family, are a great blessing.
